Heads Up 7-Up

Do you remember that game from elementary school? Holding your head down on top of your desk, arm extended, thumb up, the smell of pencil lead and disinfectant ripe in your nose as it pressed into the desktop.

I stumbled upon this little guy on Kijiji and decided he would be mine. He brought back memories of Heads Up 7-Up, passing intricately folded notes back and forth with my girlfriends, and being scared to reach into the depths of my desk for fear of what I would find.

But he needed a little updating. I knew I wanted to use one of the fantastic new colours of Liquitex spray paint I had just picked up, but couldn't decide. My blogging sisters voted for the blue-green. {still looking for a use for the yellow, watch for that project soon!}

The top needed some work as there were a few gouges in it. A little wood filler and some sanding took care of that. I had some extra chalkboard paint laying around from another project, so that finished it off!

I am so happy with the results. It still reminds me of my elementary school days, but is so much cuter than any desk I ever hid notes in.

Unfortunately, there may not be room for this guy in my family. I have since picked up a couple of antique desks that I adore, and I'm running out of room. So I may need to find this guy a new home...hopefully with a little girl who can hide her own notes inside. Let's hope her mama finds him on Kijiji.
